Remembered
Oh come to me, I would tell you
That I have loved you oh so long,
And so many tears I have cried
To the silent night I belong
As a shadow hiding in the darkness
Behind the tree on the hill
Where we used to laugh and dream
And throw our thoughts to the stream,
Believing we could be happy,
And promised nothing could take us
From each other's hearts.
I have returned this delayed year,
The tree is dead, the stream a dry, rocky bed,
If I could, I would fill with tears,
Wondering why so long I waited
To remember the way we were,
In a summer, past and promised,
In half-jest to each other,
And I told you, as you did I,
Nothing could take you from my heart,
And after oh so long, nothing has,
Shadowed as I am, in the silent night.
